Philippians 4:12-13 (NIV)

I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty.  I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want.  I can do everything through him who gives me strength.

 

 Paul is letting the church at Philippi know that even though he has been through many struggles for standing for Christ, he can do these things because it is Christ who strengthens him.

The very same holds true for every child of God today.  When we are living our lives in accordance with His will for us there is nothing that He will call us to go through or do that He will not give us the strength and ability to carry out.  It is our part to trust God and step out in faith to endure and do those things that He desires for us to accomplish.  This is yet another reason why it is crucial to be in communication with God on a daily basis so that He can speak to us through His Word and through the indwelling Holy Spirit.

 

Life is full of ups and downs.  So much of what we hold dear can be touched by death, disaster, and decay.  What do we have that is certain?  To whom can we turn for assurance?  Where do we find the power to live victoriously in good times and bad?  In the Lord who gives us strength!


God has promised to never leave us or forsake us (Hebrews 13:5) and that should give us peace in any of our circumstances knowing that He is right there with us every step of the way.  So what has God called you to do today?  Whatever it is, know that He has already given you all that you need to carry out His plan for your life.


Father God, thank You for Your faithfulness to provide for me and to give me strength to live my life. Even though I fail You many times, You have never failed me.  I love You so and I am looking forward to all that You have planned for this life that You have given me.  Help me to recognize Your will in every situation, in Your son Jesus name, Amen!
