Ephesians 1:18 NIV

I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which He has called you, the riches of His glorious inheritance in His holy people

Paul is praying that the Christians at Ephesus will be sensitive to the revelations of God that they are privy to through the “eyes” of their hearts.  This figurative expression teaches us that proper understanding of divine realities is not dependent on us having high IQ’s but rather tender hearts!  God’s revelations are given to those who love Him.  This opens up possibilities for every believer for it is not required that we have great intellect to communicate with the God of the universe, only a loving heart towards Him…and anyone can have that through Christ.

When we accepted Christ’s blood as atonement for our sin and became born again, we received the indwelling Holy Spirit.  We now have a part of the triune God-head living on the inside of us, revealing the truths of God’s Word to us, guiding us towards the life God has called us to, and comforting us when needed.

God has called each and everyone of His children to glorious things not only in this life, but in our lives to come with Him in heaven.  We are joint-heirs with Christ (Romans 8:17) and will be presented as His spotless children.  We do not hope for this in the sense that it may or may not happen, we hope for this in the fact that this aspect of our salvation is in the future and we can look forward to it with great joy and anticipation.

We who know Christ as Savior are God’s Holy people, we have been made so through the blood of Christ.  There was nothing we did or could do to become Holy, when God looks at us He sees us through the blood of His Holy Son Jesus Christ and declares us as His Holy people, His chosen ones, His children!  I will never understand why He chose to love such a vile and sinful people as we are, but I am eternally grateful that He does.  Almighty God lives in me through His Holy Spirit, He desires to reside in the hearts of those who will accept Jesus…such an awesome reality this is!  Have you thanked Him today for His great love and mercy?

Thank You Father God for loving me.  I will never understand on this side of heaven why You do, but I purpose to live my life for You and Your glory.  I love You so Dear Lord and give You my Thanksgiving and Praise this day, Amen
