2 Corinthians 9:11

You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.

Ephesians 2:4-5

Because of His great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions - it is by grace you have been saved.

It is certainly clear that a person never hurts themselves by giving to the Lord.  Instead every act of kindness has a reflex action. This is not just speaking of money, it covers many areas of our lives.  Notice it says that we will be made rich in every way.  The Lord will bless our lives in good relationships with people, great jobs, fruitful churches, and He will bless our ministry to Him.  God promises multiple times in His Word that all our needs will be met, not all our “wants”, but all our essentials (Philippians 4:19, Matt. 6:33 Philippians 4:6).  He is a good and loving Parent who cares tenderly for His children (Matthew 7:9).

I believe it is good to evaluate how we are doing in giving to God from time to time.  Are we asking Him where we are to share?  Are we thanking Him for all that He has blessed us with?  God doesn’t need our money and possessions,  He asks us to give so that it molds our hearts to be more like His.  A heart that is selfless and willing to help others out of love!

God instructs us, however much money we do or do not have, to be good stewards of it.  For example the passage in Matthew 25:20-21 where Jesus tells the servant that he has done well investing the money that his Master entrusted to him.  God uses people of all incomes to serve Him.  I know people on both ends of the scale of wealth that are very godly people who love Jesus with their whole heart and lives.  They do not put their trust in the things of this world, they trust in Christ alone for all things! And they use the money and resources He has entrusted to them to further His kingdom here on earth.

Our Father God certainly does provide us with everything for our enjoyment.  This does not mean that He gives us all our desires, it means that He knows what to give us and when to give it to us!  He does not just provide us with money or possessions for enjoyment.  He provides us with things that money cannot buy, such as family, faithful friends, good health…etc.

God is on our side and it is important to remember this when we go through troubling times.  It is crucial to be thankful to Him at all times and to be content whether we have money or not, our peace and joy come from Christ alone!  God is our Sustainer and Provider and He will never forsake His blood bought children!

Father God, thank You for Your provision in my life. Thank You for blessing me with things that money cannot buy. Thank You for the money that you have blessed me with, help me to use it for Your glory, helping the needy, and the advancement of the Gospel. I love You so Abba Father and give You all praise this day, Amen!
