Psalm 139:23-24
Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.

Even though David said this prayer thousands of years ago, it is still so beneficial and suitable for us today.  It asks our Mighty God to thoroughly search and know our hearts.  To carefully test and reveal our obvious and hidden anxieties.  If we are to have any peace in our lives we must deal with our worries by turning them over to God, He is waiting for us to surrender them to Him for solving.

Then he asks God to expose any offensive or wicked ways that may be in him.  David fully understands that there may be sins in his life or thought patterns that he is not even aware of, and he wants God to bring them to His attention so that they may be dealt with effectively.  He is basically saying the truth, that God knows his heart better than even he does.

This should be the prayer of every child of God today!  It is a good practice to get into, coming before God in prayer and asking Him to reveal anything in us that He wants changed.  The indwelling Holy Spirit will bring to our attention those things in our walk that are in need of addressing.  By doing this we are being molded by God, doing away with those things that are not pleasing to Him, and becoming more and more like Jesus on our way to spiritual maturity.  Lord help us to be diligent about dealing with sin in our lives (1 John 1:9), and in our heart attitude towards God and others.  Then we can worship God with a clean heart in spirit and in truth (John 4:24); God can bring blessings upon our life, turning our defeats into victories and our chaos into calm!

Thank You Jesus for coming to this earth and shedding Your blood for the forgiveness of my sins.  Help me to live my life for You and to deal quickly with any sin that comes up in me, so that I may have a genuine heart of obedience towards You, for I love You so.  I give You all praise this day my Redeemer and Savior, Amen!
