Wating On The Lord

Lamentations 3:25
The Lord is good to those who wait for Him, to the person who seeks Him.  We are told repeatedly throughout Scripture to “wait” on the Lord and when we do there are great benefits in this life and in eternity to come!  One of my very favorite verses on waiting is found in Psalm 27:14
Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.

Waiting is not something we who live in an “instant” society do well.  We hardly have to wait very long for anything anymore do we?  But as God’s children it is imperative for us to wait on Him, for when we do not and we find ourselves acting impulsively we will more than likely find ourselves in a heap of trouble.

Why do you suppose that God wants us to exercise patience?  I believe He asks this of us so that we slow down and see how God works things out for His good in our life.  When we wait on the Lord we are also showing our faith in Him even when things are not going as we would prefer them to go. We are exhibiting trust and confidence in Him for a good outcome, and the unsaved around us see this as an example of faith in God.  When we act impulsively, many times chaos will come to our lives and bring us upset and confusion which is right where satan wants us!  So when trials come, and they surely will, take heart and be strong in the Lord, wait on Him for He always has our best interest at heart and will never leave us or forsake us (Hebrews 13:5)!

Romans 8:28
And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.
